Celebrating Earth Day through art.

before you begin:
Gather the following: Colorations Decorate Your Own Ceramic Sea Shapes, paint (acrylic), paint brushes, and paint palettes.

activity goals:
Create a fun craft while learning about the Earth.

Take a portion of the air-dry clay and knead it until it softens.

Add smalls drops of paint directly onto the putty then knead and swirl the paint to create a marbled effect. Use blue to create an ocean wave look, or a little bit of brown for sand, or even mix colors to create a beach sunset effect. Avoid over-mixing to keep swirled look intact. .

Flatten the putty with hour hands or a rolling pin if needed then shape into a round or any other shape.

Press your seashells into the putty. You can leave the shells in the putty or just use to make an imprint.

Optional - Before putty dries, poke a small hole in the top for string or twine so it can be used as an ornament.

Once completely dry place this ocean-inspired craft on display, hang it as decoration, or even give as a gift. Great way to talk about the beauty of marine life.
